Lavender Air Freshener!

IMG_2368

Life can be Stinky!

Thankfully, we have natural ways to freshen the air!

For years we used the “Air Fresheners” that you shake on the carpet and vacuum up without any thought of WHAT the product was made from. Since moving to our farm house almost 3 years ago, we have been trying to “clean up” our chemical use and use more all natural products. I have to say that the thought of changing products we had been using for years was mentally hard, but not difficult. The more labels I read of the products we had been using for many years, the more I knew we had to make a change for the better. We get our water from a well on our property and we have a septic system for the treatment of our waste water. Knowing how these systems work, I knew I had to do something to reduce the amount of chemicals in our home and daily life. About 2 years ago we began making our own laundry soap instead of buying big containers from the big box stores. Making our own products has now turned into a passion to see what we can make and stop purchasing from the big box stores. Recently I thought I would try to make a new air freshener for our guest bathroom and it turned out GREAT! The best thing about it is that it can be made different ways  and it can be used different ways! Not bad for a simple 5 minute project that is 100% chemical free! 🙂

Lavender Air Freshener Recipe

1/4 to 1/2 Cup of baking soda

1/4 to 1/2 Cup of dried lavender

10 to 15 Drops of Lavender Essential Oil

1 Glass container or mason jar

Mix baking soda and dried lavender together, add lavender essential oil and mix well. Place into a glass container or mason jar with holes (I found mine at Target in the dollar bin) in the lid. Place in desired area and enjoy! Add 5 to 10 drops of lavender essential oil every couple of weeks as needed.
