OMG! I Passed! I Am Now An RN!!!!

rn lic

Holy Moly!!!

I seriously do not even know where to begin on how to explain how I feel right now.

I am beyond relieved, but stressed, exhausted, and overwhelmed!

Today has been a whirlwind of emotions that have gone from fear to excitement to exhaustion.

The last 5 years have been leading up to today and now that it is here, I am a bit overwhelmed.

I have spent many days and nights studying at the kitchen table while my friends and family were going about their lives as my life was put on hold the best I could due to nursing school.

Going back to school at the age of 37 with ZERO college credits and starting night school while working full time during the day was not something that I ever thought I would be able to do.

However, I was determined to do it and succeed so that I could better myself and help others.

Little did I know just how difficult nursing school would be and how it would turn into a full time job while trying to juggle family life.

The 3 years leading up to the nursing program while doing my pre req’s was not a walk in the park, but they were cake walk compared to starting the nursing program at 40!

Even though there were many of days when I wanted to throw in the towel when things got tough during the last 9 months of school, I am so glad that I stuck it out and completed the program!

I graduated  June 16, 2015, I waited 6 weeks before I was able to schedule my state board exam and then another 4 weeks before taking my exam.

During the 6 weeks that I was waiting for the authorization to test, many of my classmates were scheduling their exams and passing NCLEX-RN!

I started to get discouraged as I waited, but I took the time to unwind a little bit after 5 years of school and I finally got my authorization to test on July 23rd.

Once I scheduled my exam, I started to study everyday for the exam and I completely went off of all social media the last 2 weeks in order to be able to focus on the exam and not get wrapped up in things that I did not have time for.

BTW- If you are reading this blog post from a Facebook or Twitter link, I am still taking a break for a couple of more weeks from social media so that I can continue to de-stress and go on a very much needed vacation. ❤

I took my exam the morning of August 20th and I have been freaking out thinking that I did not pass the exam.

However, I found out today that I am now a Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of California! 🙂

I do not think that there is anything that can truly prepare one for the NCLEX-RN exam!

I did every single Kaplan qbank question, practice exam, and trainer test to study with, some of them multiple times until I got them correct and I still did not feel that I had passed when I left the testing center.

I did do the Pearson View Trick when I was done with the exam  in the parking lot of the testing center and I got the “Good Popup”, however, I did not feel that it was 100% that I had passed!

Pearson View Trick RN

There is something so mental that happens to you when you do this exam and you have to wait for your results, but I cannot explain it to be able to put it into words!

Only that it is BRUTAL! 😥

On the way home from my exam, I started to think of a backup plan for my career since I knew that I could never (would not) take that exam again!

Not only did I not want to pay the crazy fees to retake the exam, but I never wanted to put myself and my family through that stress again!

And now the REAL FUN of looking for a position as a New Grad begins! ❤

If you have any questions about studying for NCLEX-RN or how to do the Pearson View Trick, send me an email and I will be happy to help!

Peace, Love, & Hugs,

Are you Obsessed with Essential Oils?

1482764_10152194094475480_1260871638_n

2 years ago today I became an Young Living Essential Oils Member!

I am BEYOND Obsessed!!!

LOL!!

I started using oils for my stress due to working full time and going to school part time.

I had tested and applied for an RN program the day after I turned 40 in September of 2012.

I had been stressing about getting in the program and how we were going to make things work if I got in since we needed my income for bills due to purchasing a 2nd home.

Things were NUTS around here and I was having lots of challenging days at work.

I had been talking to a friend of mine that was using oils with her daughter who had just been diagnosed with Autism and she suggested that I talk to her friend about oils to help with my stress.

Thankfully, I picked up the phone and called to inquire about the oils and I signed up with a starter kit that night!

Within a week of getting my starter kit, I got the call from the school that I applied to and I got in the RN program!

I started posting little things here on Facebook about how the oils were helping me and a friend that I had never met in person, but we knew each other from a diet group on Facebook asked me about what I was using and we started chatting about oils.

She signed up a week after I started my RN program and now her and I have grown our team that started with just her and I to over 640 people!!!

She has fallen in LOVE with the oils and she has become Gold within 18 months with YL!

I am still working my way to Silver, but I am not able to do the classes like she is due to school.

Needless to say, once I am finished with school in June, I will be ramping up my YL business even MORE!!!!!

Amazing Detox Bath

IMG_1188

There is something so soothing about a relaxing warm bath after a long day.

For years I was one who would take a bubble bath with a bubble bath product from a well known chain store that is famous for after holiday sales. I would stock up on yummy scented bath products thinking I was doing something good and relaxing for my body. Little did I know that the products I was soaking in was loaded with chemicals that are harmful for our skin. 😦

Thankfully, I was able to crawl out of my bubble bliss and learn about the health benefits of taking a detox bath. Due to our environment, our bodies are not getting the proper amount of magnesium that we need. Our bodies NEED magnesium to survive, yet our soil is being depleted and the typical American diet severely lacks the amount we need.  I have been doing detox baths for about 3 years now and I am SO GLAD I started doing them. A little over a year ago I started using Young Living Essential Oils  and I started adding them to my detox baths. I try to take a detox bath at least once a week, if not more. There are some weeks that I do not get to take one and I really miss it.  I use lavender essential oil most of the time, however, I change it up depending on my mood. If I really want to relax and I am going right to bed after a detox bath, I do a combo of Lavender and Peace & Calming essential oils.

Amazing Detox Bath Recipe

2 Cups of Epsom Salt

1/2 Cup of Baking Soda

10 Drops of Essential Oil

( I only use Therapeutic Grade Young Living Essential Oils)

1 Bathtub of Hot Water ( Not too hot, but not warm)

20 to 30 Minutes of Soaking Time

I like combine the epsom salts, baking soda, and essential oil together before adding to the water in the tub. By adding the essential oils to the epsom salts and baking soda, the oil absorbs into the salt mixture and does not float on the top of the water. As we all know oil and water do not mix, therefore, adding essential oils to the bath water will not be as beneficial as it could be. Once the tub is at your desired soaking level, sit down in and relax for 20 to 30 minutes. After you are finished soaking, drain the tub while sitting in the tub, allowing your body time to rest before getting out of the tub. If you are pressed for time or you do not have a bath tub, you can still enjoy the benefits of a detox bath by doing a foot bath and reducing the amount of products.

Detox Foot Bath Recipe

1 Cup of Epsom Salts

1/4 Cup of Baking Soda

5 Drops of Essential Oil

10 to 15 minutes of soaking time

The above recipes make a great gift for friends and family.

I like to make up a few jars during the holidays and have them for just in case gifts.

You never know when an unexpected guest will stop by during the holidays and bring a gift. 😉
